From Charity to Social Justice: Challenging misconceptions and exploring diversity

A two hour twilight / training day workshop for Key Stage 2 teachers.

Aim

To promote a balanced perspective of other people and place, base on social justice rather than charity, using active learning approaches and the local community as a classroom resource.

Learning Outcomes

The workshop will provide teachers with an opportunity to:
• Reflect on the resources and teaching approaches currently used to engage pupils with other peoples and places.
• Evaluate teaching techniques and learning approaches that challenge misconceptions and explore global diversity.
• Assess the value of local community involvement in the delivery of Global Learning initiatives.
